Microchips offer safe, permanent, worldwide identification.
Do it for peace of mind.
We offer universally-scannable microchips at Palisades Veterinary Clinic. Since many of our clients travel with their pets, and some travel internationally, it is vital (and sometimes required by law) to have our pets permanently identified by a microchip.
We use the resQ microchip by Bayer, a tiny inert microchip that is inserted under the skin using a syringe, much like a vaccination is given.
A resQ microchip is about the size of a grain of rice and is implanted into the pet in a single simple injection, just like a vaccine. The microchip has a code that is unique to your pet, the way your social security number is unique to you. When a pet is found and scanned, the unique code can be traced back to you through your database registration, allowing you and your pet to be happily reunited.
Registration of your microchip is FREE and updating easy at PetLink.
We recommend placement of a microchip in every pet. It is ideal to do this as a kitten or puppy. Sometimes it is easier to do when the young animal is anesthetized during a dental procedure or a spay or neuter procedure if the pet is very wiggly, but microchips can be placed anytime. Simply stop by!

If you find a pet and are not sure if they have a microchip, you can come to our clinic and we can scan them for one. If they have a tag with a microchip number on it, you can call home again at 1-888-HOMEAGAIN (466-3242) or resQ at 1-877-PETLINK (738-5465) and receive information about where that pet lives
